Meet Our Founder, Nathan Daly
I first set up the business in a garage in Heacham back in 1993, carrying out re-wires, general electrical repairs, and similar work for members of the public. The business quickly gained momentum, and by 1995 we moved to Dersingham into a converted office building. By then, I had grown the team to five electricians.
In 2001, we outgrew our premises once again and relocated to Coxford. It was around this time that we also opened our lighting showroom, selling fittings directly to the public. By this stage, we had around 15 employees and were regularly taking on electrical contract work for both small and large builders.
In 2005, I launched Alpha Developments as a new arm of the business to focus on new builds and renovation projects alongside our electrical contracts. By then, we’d grown to around 25 employees. Being able to deliver entire building projects from start to finish was a fantastic experience for both me and the team, and it marked a strong period of growth for us and for the local construction industry as a whole.
By 2009, Alpha Developments evolved into Daly (Group) Ltd, where we began to focus more heavily on contract work. We also expanded by adding our plumbing and heating division, which became a key part of the business. Over time, we secured increasingly larger contracts, and today we employ more than 70 people. Daly is now proud to be recognised as one of the leading plumbing, heating, and electrical contractors in East Anglia.
Our commitment to detail and high-quality workmanship has been acknowledged through several prestigious awards. We were proud to receive the NHBC 'Pride in the Job' Seal of Excellence in both 2015 and 2016 while working with Kier, and we continued this success with NHBC 'Pride in the Job' awards in partnership with David Wilson Homes in 2018 and 2019. More recently, we’ve been recognised for our customer service, winning Customer Service Excellence awards with both Barratt Homes and Redrow Homes. We were also named 'Most Highly Commended' at the National Apprenticeship Regional Awards 2023 for our investment in apprenticeships, and in 2024, we were honoured to be awarded 'Most Highly Commended Employer of the Year' at the Apprenticeship Norfolk Awards.
